TRAT, 29 August 2009 (NNT) - Trat province warns people of heavy rainfall and flash floods during the next couple of days.
Trat Deputy Governor Chalor Baicharoen said it had been reported by the Meteorological Department, that a low-pressure system in the upper part of the Gulf of Thailand and a southwestern monsoon would result in abundant rain and heavy rainfall in most parts of the country, including Trat. Over 70% of the eastern region is expected to face fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in the provinces of Rayong, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
Mr Chalor warned local residents living in disaster-prone areas in the districts of Mueang, Khao Saming, Laem Ngop, Khlong Yai, Bo Rai, and Ko Chang to avoid staying near large billboards or outdoor during heavy rain. Small boats are suggested to avoid leaving the shore during this period.
